Jameson, These all have solid foundations to them. However, you devote too much time to an even contour, attempting to describe the edges with an accuracy you'll never get in a gesture drawing. After you use lighter lines to establish proportion and form, keep working lightly with a little pressure here or there - make decisions within the figure and around the contours. Then finish the facial features, hands and feet - and some of their environment.
